Alison Davis Artist
.Welcome to my art site.
I am a North East of England watercolour and pastel artist. I studied art at A level until 1973 (then went into a career of social work, youth support and management until I took early retirement 2011). I didn't paint again until 2002 when I joined Houghton Art Club where I am now secretary.
I am also a member of Hetton Art Club.
I am inspired by the luminescence and strength of Pre Raphaelite colours and the power of Turner skies. I enjoy the fluidity and translucence of watercolour and the flow and speed of pastel. I challenge myself to paint all different subjects but love painting horses, landscapes, and animals. Most of my paintings are painted either directly from the subject or from photos I have taken of subjects I love, (unless otherwise stated).
I paint as a volunteer at Beamish Museum Pit Village (in costume with the Beamish Art Group ) . I am there at the pit village February 8th, March 8th and 22nd, April 5th and 19th, May 10th and 24th, June7th and 21st.
